Primary School Curriculum

The school follows the new Primary School Curriculum as laid down by the Department of Education and Science. The key subjects on the curriculum are:

  • Languages: English, Irish
  • Mathematics
  • Social, Environment and Scientific Education: Geography, History and Science
  • Arts Education: Art & Craft / Visual Arts, Music & Drama
  • Religious Education
  • Physical Education,
  • Social, Personal and Health Education (SPHE)

In some circumstances Integrated Studies incorporate many subjects together around a central theme.

As always, arrangements are made to ensure as much individual attention is paid to Maths and English in separating classes either in the morning or in the afternoon using all our staff. When the junior classes (Infants and First) go home at 1.20 p.m. the other classes receive more individual attention.

Philosophy

  • To provide a centre of life–learning for our pupils.
  • To provide a safe and happy school where the pupils will receive a well balanced and rounded education
  • To cater for the social, spiritual, religious, physical, creative, intellectual, emotional and moral needs of the pupils
  • To recognize that each child is a unique individual and to try and develop their potential
  • To promote fairness, respect and equality among the pupils
  • To allow each pupil to express themselves and develop good communication skills
  • To teach the pupil good manners and confidence
  • To help the pupils to develop healthy friendships and relationships,
